Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him; may his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
His portrayal was so skilled I’m sure he had something of Theoden’s spirit in him - May he meet Tolkien now in the everlasting Golden Hall!
PS Some trivia. “No parent should have to bury their child” was improvised, and it was Hill’s idea to touch the spears with his sword as he rode past the soldiers in that climactic scene. An actor of impeccable instincts.
Théoden has become my favorite character in the movies as I’ve grown older, which is saying something, and it’s certainly the result of Bernard Hill’s amazing performance. What a terrible loss.
I loved his portrayal of Theoden. Seeing his transformation from under the spell of the wizard to his own right mind is like Colossians telling us we are transferred from the domain of darkness to the kingdom of light.
I know he did many other things but this is my favorite.

Hail, Theoden King. The horn of Helm Hammerhand shall sound in the deep one last time...
Namarie, Theoden ✨
Namarie, Theoden King.
We know his face.
And always will.

He was a great man and a great king, who kept his oaths.
"I go to my fathers, in whose mighty company I shall not feel shame."
Rip Theoden King. DEATH!!!
RIP Bernard Hill. LOTR will always mean so much to me.

The "Death!" battle cry will never sound the same. Requiescat in pace, my captain (Smith in "Titanic"), my king.
I am listening to the audiobook narrated by Andy Serkis (incredible!) and just this morning was the description of Theoden’s funeral 🙏🏼
Who could forget this delivery: "We have paid for it with many lives!"
So many good lines. My favorite is “If this is to be our end, I would have them make such an end, as to be worthy of remembrance” 🫡
What a fitting tribute. He will be missed.
Will never forget his performance in LotR; he truly hit his Marks.
May he rest in peace.
