I would say I could see Gandalf taking the whole thing, but I love Sam so much that I'm just not so sure. Makes me want to go back and rewatch them all.
Yeah. Also, I'd like to see the actors go farther than the CGI. I think Saruman could beat Durin's Bane while he rightly fell to Gollum.
My reasoning is Gollum beat Saruman because he had the more important role in the story. Durin's Bane beat Gollum because though the CGI Balrog is just a one-dimensional monster, it IS a Maia and so vastly more powerful than CGI Gollum. But Saruman is both the more important character (and played to perfection by Chris Lee) and also a Maia just like the Balrog and would defeat him as Gandalf did.
