FRODO: Excuse me, that man in the corner, who is he?
THE INKEEPER, BARLIMAN BUTTERBUR: He's one of them rangers.
FRODO: Is he—quite safe? I shall feel rather nervous about meeting a ranger.
BUTTERBUR: Safe? Who said anything about safe? 'Course he isn't safe. But he's good. He's the King, I tell you.
STRIDER: *sigh* For the last time, Butterbur, would you please stop telling everyone what my deal is? You’re ruining my mysterious brooding vibe, which I put a lot of effort into cultivating.
FRODO: Are you the one who Bilbo wrote that poem of his about?
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost,
At the sound of his “FOR FRODO!”
sorrows will be no more,
When he renews the blade that was broken, evil meets its end,
And when he crushes athelas,
we shall be healed again.
Strider is on the move.STRIDER: Do not cite the deep rhymes to me, friend. I was there when it was written.
SAM: I don’t know exactly why, but whenever I heard Mister Bilbo recite that I was picturing a talking lion for some reason.
STRIDER: (looking around at the riffraff in the room) It’s not wise for you to stay in your rooms tonight. We’ll need to move you to another room. Preferably one further away from this common area.
PIPPIN: Oh, I get it! Further up and further inn.
